1:76 SCALE Trolleybus - Wolverhampton 58 Dudley-OM40102B VEHICLE REG EJW 455, FLEETNUMBER 455 ON SERVICE 58 DUDLEY VIA SEDGLEY THIS MODEL IS BOXED IN MINT CONDITION The Wolverhampton Corporation Transport Department purchased parts of two tramway companies in 1923, eventually electrifying them. Trolleybus operation commenced in 1923, using ‘trackless’ style vehicles as tram replacements. Trolleybuses of a more modern outline, reputedly the first in Britain, arrived in 1926. From 1931 there was a joint service with Walsall’s trolleybuses. The Guy Motors factory was situated in the town, so Guy buses and Sunbeam trolleybuses were favoured in the town’s purchases until 1969 when production ceased. The decision to abandon the trolleybus fleet was made in 1961 and the last one ran in 1967. The Wolverhampton Corporation Transport Department was absorbed by the new West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive in 1969 This is a Dual Destination/Split Run model.
