1:43 SCALE Ford Cortina Mk4 3.0SFord South Africa, Grass Green-VA11911THIS MODEL IS BOXED IN MINT CONDITION.FULLY CERTIFIED LIMITED EDITION Different countries require different specifications and in South Africa, where, in the mid-1970s huge distances were still covered on un-made roads, Ford's Port Elizabeth-built Cortina MkIV was offered with the 3-litre 'Essex' V6 as the performance orientated 3000S, which featured stiffer suspension, a manual gearbox and low profile tyres. The 3000S modelled was first registered to Mr J. Stoneham of Kempton Park, SA, in 1977 as BJV 887T. It is believed he was an expatriate British citizen who returned to Britain in June 1985 and shipped it home with him. Subsequently Ireland-based enthusiast Richard Norton owned the car and he sold it to current custodian Kevin Turner from Kent in November 2012.Ford enthusiast Kevin has been gradually addressing the car's mechanical and cosmetic issues but it's basically still in very sound condition. Although Ford's long held corporate ambition to produce 'global' cars from a prescribed kit of parts had started to bear fruit by the early 1970s Kevin has found many features different to the UK built Cortinas he is used to working on and loves driving this 'junior muscle car', which feels very similar on the road to a Capri 3.0S. Ford South Africa targeted performance-minded enthusiasts with the 3000S, which was marketed under their 'Born to perform' tagline' along with the Escort RS2000, and later produced an even hotter V6 Cortina, the XR6 Interceptor which featured triple Weber carburettors.Engine: 2994cc V6 OHV Power: 138bhp@5000rpm Torque: 174lb.ft@3000rpm 0-50mph: 6.4seconds Maximum speed: 118mph Unladen weight: 2522lbsCorgi presents Vanguards, a series of die-cast 1:43 scale model automobiles spanning half a century of motoring in Britain.
