Essex-based Ford enthusiast Andy Powell was determined to continue enjoying his hobby despite losing his right leg in a motorbike accident. He thus started looking for an automatic Cortina and purchased the car modelled here in 2009 from the estate of its first owner, Mrs Doris Cousins, who’d bought the car new in February 1979 from Endeavour Ford – Brighton.

Having been in storage for 15 years it had only covered 25,000 miles and was in basically sound condition. However, Andy rebuilt the brakes and suspension had the throttle-pedal repositioned and returned the car to the road in 2010. He has since had a bare-metal re-spray done and continues to improve the car.
