1:43 SCALE Triumph Stag Mk1, White'Pilot Build Number One' LD1 - VA10107THIS MODEL IS BOXED IN MINT CONDITION.FULLY CERTIFIED LIMITED EDITION The first car built from production tooling in Triumph’s Project Development workshops, this Stag pre-production car LD1 is very important in Triumph history as only two pre-production cars were built in this way. The other example, LD2, was a left-hand-drive car to US specification. The build of LD1 started in July 1969 and was completed in November, after which it was used for both component testing and media work before being taken to Europe in March 1970 to be photographed for the Stag’s sales brochure. Triumph wanted to cultivate a sophisticated GT image for the Stag and so chose to present the car in the Alps, the South of France and Monaco. Those same pictures were used in later Stag publicity material but were altered so that up to date K and L registrations replaced the original H and the Mk2 brochure featured a different colour interior and side-long coach-line carefully 'airbrushed' in!A manual-overdrive car, it was also used for press and PR work, which included LJK Setright's famously whimsical test for 'Car', but was eventually sold into the family of a BL director. Triumph parts specialist SNG Barratt acquired it in 1988, restored it, then used it to promote their business and also as a family car. Stag Owners Club Honorary Vice President Steve Kiefer, a Kent-based retired insurance broker, purchased it from Barratts in 1998 and continues to use and cherish it.
